Are you ready to make a difference?
Welcome to the eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment project led by Susi Miller - industry-leading eLearning accessibility expert, LPI Learning Professional of the Year 2025 and author of Designing Accessible Learning Content.
This ground-breaking initiative aims to benchmark the accessibility of the Learning and Development (L&D) industry, and empower 1000 organisations to evaluate and enhance the accessibility of their learning content. By participating, you’ll contribute to gathering vital data to address systemic issues and drive meaningful, measurable change in accessibility across the sector.
To take part - and make a huge difference to millions of learners with disabilities and access needs - all you need to do is set aside about 10-15 minutes to answer the 60 targeted questions in the eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment. In return, you’ll receive your customised eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment Report a free, detailed assessment with tailored feedback, practical guidance, and useful resources to help your organisation improve the accessibility and inclusivity of your learning content and strategic approach.
Note: We're working with the software providers to improve the screen reader compatability of the eLa1000 assessment and report results. If you would like a fully accessible version in the meantime, please contact us directly at [email protected]
Assessment features
Why this assessment is so unique
Unlike so many assessments and checklists that oversimplify accessibility with a handful of tips, the eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment provides a detailed evaluation. Its 60 targeted questions are entirely focused on learning content, the learning experience, and the key factors that enhance accessibility and usability for everyone, including people with disabilities and access needs.

Evidence based
The eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment is built on insights from hundreds of hours of eLearning audits conducted by eLaHub. It identifies the most frequent issues that undermine learning content accessibility and focuses on practical solutions.

Aligns with international standards
The questions are based on the 86 most recent V2.2 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) - the international gold standard for accessibility, and increasingly a legal requirement across a wide range of sectors and countries.

Above and beyond standards
The assessment doesn’t stop at standards. It includes expert recommendations from eLaHub’s audits, providing additional guidance to create inclusive, user-friendly content for all learners.

Addresses diverse access needs
Covering vision, hearing, motor, and cognitive access needs, the assessment ensures your content supports all learners, including those with neurodivergent conditions.

Strategic focus
The assessment goes beyond content, incorporating a focus on strategies, policies and procedures. It helps you evaluate your current maturity level in eLearning accessibility, providing a clear picture of where you stand and guiding you towards meaningful next steps.

Benchmarking L&D accessibility
The eLa1000 Accessibility Assessment marks the first step in creating an evidence-based accessibility strategy for the L&D industry. By benchmarking accessibility, we can identify areas for improvement, and help establish actionable steps to create more equitable learning for all.
